Golf and Rugby are among new sports to arrive this time around. Nintendo seems more keen to promote the 3DS version ahead of the upcoming release in Japan - we're still awaiting the Western release dates - but it is nevertheless coming to the HD system. These licensed tie-ins in which Mario, Sonic and chums do battle have proven to be a success over a number of years. Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games That's a lot of potential content, and with LEGO games rarely failing to entertain this could be an early treat this year. Excitingly, it's going to cover six films in total - Avengers (which was called Avengers Assemble in the UK to avoid confusion with the cult TV show of the same name), Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: The First Avenger, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Thor: The Dark World and Iron Man 3. Though this has been somewhat under the radar, especially with LEGO Dimensions hogging attention in 2015, this is nevertheless very promising on paper. This is the 30th Anniversary year for the franchise, of course, so the hope is that the Wii U release will be the tentpole arrival of the year. This was in the equivalent 2015 list 12 months ago, so as a result we're hedging our bets and choosing optimism.
